Adenoidectomy
Adenoidectomy is the surgical removal of the adenoids—tissue located at the back of the nose that can cause breathing or ear problems if enlarged.
The procedure:
-
Usually done under general anaesthetic
-
Can use a coblator (plasma field) to remove adenoids
-
The surgeon removes the adenoids through the mouth—no external cuts
-
Uses a curette, microdebrider, or electrocautery to remove the tissue
-
Surgery typically takes 15 to 30 minutes
-
Usually a day procedure with quick recovery
Adenoidectomy helps improve breathing, reduce infections, and treat ear problems caused by blocked nasal passages.
