Glue Ear
Glue ear (also called otitis media with effusion) is a condition where thick, sticky fluid builds up behind the eardrum, often after an ear infection. It’s common in children and can cause temporary hearing loss.
Symptoms may include:
-
Muffled hearing
-
Delayed speech (in children)
-
A feeling of fullness in the ear
ENT treatment options:
-
Monitoring – many cases clear up on their own within a few months
-
Nasal sprays or drops – may help reduce congestion
-
Grommets (ventilation tubes) – a small tube inserted into the eardrum to drain fluid and improve hearing if the condition persists.

Dr Long will assess hearing and recommend the best course of action.
