Hay Fever

Hay fever, or allergic rhinitis, is an allergic reaction to pollen, dust, or other airborne allergens. It causes symptoms like sneezing, a runny or blocked nose, itchy eyes, and throat irritation.

How does an ENT treat Hayfever?

  • Allergy testing to identify triggers

  • Nasal sprays (steroids or antihistamines) to reduce inflammation and symptoms

  • Oral antihistamines for relief of sneezing and itching

  • Decongestants for short-term relief of nasal blockage

  • Allergy immunotherapy (allergy shots or tablets) in some cases to reduce sensitivity long-term

  • Advice on avoiding triggers and managing symptoms.
