Ossiculoplasty
Ossiculoplasty is surgery to repair or replace the small hearing bones (ossicles) in the middle ear—usually the malleus, incus, or stapes—to improve hearing.

The procedure:
-
Done under general anaesthetic
-
The surgeon accesses the middle ear through the ear canal or a small incision behind the ear
-
Damaged ossicles are repaired or replaced with prosthetic bones (made of titanium or other biocompatible materials)
-
Often done along with tympanoplasty if the eardrum is also damaged
-
Surgery lasts about 1 to 2 hours
After surgery, the ear is kept dry, and follow-ups are needed to monitor healing and hearing improvement.
