Reflux
Reflux, or laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR), occurs when stomach acid flows back into the throat and voice box, causing irritation. It can lead to symptoms like hoarseness, throat clearing, cough, and a feeling of a lump in the throat.

How does an ENT treat reflux?
-
Lifestyle changes: avoiding spicy foods, caffeine, smoking, and eating smaller meals
-
Medications: proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) or antacids to reduce stomach acid
-
Voice therapy: to reduce strain caused by irritation
-
Further evaluation: if symptoms persist or worsen.
