Tongue Tie

Tongue tie (or ankyloglossia) is a condition where the strip of tissue under the tongue (the frenulum) is too tight or short, restricting tongue movement.

Common Signs:

  • Difficulty breastfeeding or latching

  • Trouble moving the tongue

  • Speech difficulties in older children

Treatment:

An ENT may recommend a simple procedure called a frenotomy to release the tie, especially if it’s affecting feeding or speech. It's quick and usually done in the clinic for babies.
